Super Smash Bros. Melee – 20XX Tournament Edition coming August 2015

Super Smash Bros. fans are obsessed and Melee seems to be the go-to game for serious players. Fans have even created Project M, a mod for Brawl which is inspired by Melee’s gameplay. Yesterday an announcement trailer was revealed for an incredible hack for Super Smash Bros. Melee called 20XX Tournament Edition. This will be free for anybody to download and play and comes with a wide array of new features and gameplay changes specifically designed for tournament use. The mod is designed to load from your GameCube memory card and does not require hacking the console. It can be played on either a GameCube or Wii. You can even purchase an official memory card with the mod pre-loaded onto it but it will cost you $15.00.

According to the website this is an ongoing project but some exciting new features are already in place including true widescreen support, neutral spawn points, hitlag behavior, taunt battle, stage striking, and more. Some features are specific to “Tournament” mode but there’s also tons of new “Non-Tournament” mode features including L-canceling training wheels, randomized stage music, fixed camera, and a bunch of other cool stuff. It’s shaping up to be a quality mod that any serious melee player should definitely check out.
